A tragedy occurred on the Volchya River in the Synelnykove district of Dnipropetrovsk region. Today, in the village of Bohodarivka, part of the Pokrov territorial community, a sheet of ice gave way under the weight of two men who apparently decided to take a shortcut across the frozen river. This was reported by "Vydomo," citing the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk region.
Fortunately, one of them was rescued – a passing teenager managed to pull him out of the water. Sadly, the fate of the second man remains unknown at this time.
Upon receiving the report of the incident, rescuers promptly arrived at the scene. They conducted a thorough examination of the river area close to the incident site, using specialized equipment, including diving gear and thermal imaging cameras. Unfortunately, the search for the man who fell through the ice has not yet been successful.
The search and rescue operation is ongoing. It is important to note that the thickness of the ice on the Volchya River is currently uneven and does not meet safety standards. Even on what appears to be solid ice, there may be hidden cracks and voids that could lead to tragic consequences.
The State Emergency Service strongly advises against going onto the ice and urges everyone to follow all safety precautions.
