Ukrainian defenders have liberated the village of Pyschane near Pokrovsk, while Russian occupation forces have been pushed back from several other settlements.

This was reported by "Suspilne Donbass," citing the spokesperson for the Operational-Strategic Group of Troops "Khortytsia," Viktor Trehubov.

Map of the combat operations in Ukraine: situation as of February 16Over the course of a day, there were 261 combat encounters on the front lines. The majority of attacks by Russian troops occurred in the Pokrovsk direction.

It is noted that the village was cleared of occupiers thanks to the "effective cooperation" between strike drone units and assault groups of the Defense Forces.

"A number of counterattacks by Ukrainian forces have had certain success. In particular, it has already been reported, and we can now speak of the liberation of the village of Pyschane. This is about 5 km south of Pokrovsk. Additionally, Russian troops have been pushed back from several other nearby settlements," the spokesperson said.

According to him, there has been a certain "turning point" in the Pokrovsk direction.

"The Russians had very serious intentions regarding the semi-encirclement of the city of Pokrovsk... Active combat operations had been ongoing there for quite some time, but, let's say, it was in an area where the situation constantly changes. Now the Russians have suffered a serious blow, a significant defeat there," Trehubov added.

As is known, Russian occupation forces have not changed their tactics and continue to attack the positions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine near Pokrovsk.

It is noteworthy that in January, the occupiers irretrievably lost around seven thousand personnel in the Pokrovsk direction. This is more casualties than during the Second Chechen War.

Earlier, the OVA reported on the number of civilians remaining in frontline Pokrovsk.
