The Russian forces did not completely cross the border into Ukraine from the Kursk region. There was only an attempted incursion by a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG), which was destroyed.
This was stated by the head of the Central Defense Authority, Andrei Kovalenko, commenting on today's remarks by Putin regarding the alleged "offensive of Russian troops from Kursk along the entire front line."
"Regarding the information about Kursk that appeared on social media. There was an attempt by a Russian DRG to enter Ukrainian territory. The DRG has been eliminated. There are currently no Russian troop groupings capable of launching a large-scale offensive into Ukraine," he wrote on Telegram.
He added that Russian DRGs frequently attempt to infiltrate Ukrainian territory, but they are destroyed by the Defense Forces.
"Putin's claim about a large-scale Russian offensive is a lie," Kovalenko stated.
As is known, earlier today, Putin claimed that the Russian military had crossed the Ukrainian border from the Kursk region.
"Last night, the soldiers of the 710th brigade crossed the border between Russia and Ukraine and entered enemy territory," Putin declared in a statement to Russian media.
He added that Russian forces are now "advancing along the entire line of combat contact."
Let us recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky previously reported on how many more North Korean soldiers Russia plans to deploy to Kursk. Meanwhile, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, shared how many kilometers of Kursk are held by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
