On the evening of Monday, October 28, an opposition rally began in Tbilisi. Participants are advocating for repeat parliamentary elections.
Georgian Telegram channels, including Echo of the Caucasus, report on the commencement of the rally.
The protesters gathered in front of the Georgian parliament building and blocked traffic on Rustaveli Avenue.
Opposition politicians have already started speaking at the square. One of the leaders of the "United National Movement" party, Giorgi Vashadze, urged the ruling "Georgian Dream" to organize repeat elections "to be conducted by an international administration."
The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, who had previously called on citizens to take to the streets, directly accused the coalition representatives of election fraud.
"They (the "Georgian Dream" – ed.) stole your vote and tried to steal your future. But no one has the right to do this, and you will not allow it," she stated.
Recall that the parliamentary elections in Georgia took place on October 26. The “Georgian Dream” party won, securing more than half of the votes. However, international observers reported serious violations during the voting process.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze already announced that the first session of parliament will proceed as usual and the government will be approved, despite the opposition's refusal to recognize the election results.
