The suspension of non-military aid from the United States has not significantly impacted social projects, as Ukraine has other financial partners.
This statement was made by Ukraine's Minister of Social Policy, Oksana Zholnovich, during a press conference on Monday in Kyiv, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
"In fact, it hasn't had a significant impact so far. We have numerous agreements with partners from Europe, the UK, and the World Bank, where assistance is provided systematically. Moreover, this suspension does not affect large projects that are included in the budget; it pertains to support for the public sector," Zholnovich stated.
She confirmed that some projects are indeed funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), but considering that the agency has a large number of other partners, the situation is not critical at this moment.
According to Zholnovich, the Ministry of Social Policy is currently determining which specific contractors will be affected by the suspension of funding from the United States.
It is worth noting that on January 24, it became known that the U.S. is suspending most foreign aid programs for 90 days. The Reuters agency reported that USAID staff were instructed to suspend all projects related to Ukraine. Later, this was also reported by Ukrainian media citing a USAID employee.
The National Security and Defense Council clarified that U.S. military aid to Ukraine has not ceased.
