The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and police apprehended a man and a woman who were plotting an assassination against the first deputy head of the Ministry of Health for personal reasons.
This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General and the SBU on January 20.

Investigators have not disclosed the name of the Ministry of Health employee, but it appears that the assassination plot was aimed at Serhiy Dubrov, who currently holds the position of first deputy head of the Ministry of Health.
According to the investigation, in October 2024, a woman died in one of the capital's hospitals from severe injuries sustained in a traffic accident.
"The first deputy minister, who is an anesthesiologist, was on duty at the medical facility that day. Despite the serious injuries from the accident, the woman's friends believed that the doctor was responsible for her death, which led them to decide to kill him," the statement read.
According to the investigation, the suspects monitored him by renting cars and an apartment in the residential complex where the man lived. They acquired weapons with the intent to shoot the doctor. However, law enforcement intervened.
The man and woman were detained under article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code during the exchange of money for the pistol intended to be used as the murder weapon.
During the searches at the suspects' home, law enforcement seized weapons, ammunition, an object resembling a grenade, and psychotropic substances. All items found were sent for examination, after which the issue of further qualification of the suspects' actions will be addressed.
The question of choosing measures for the suspects is currently being considered.
Recall that in May of last year, President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Serhiy Rudy from the position of head of the State Protection Administration. This happened after the SBU exposed a network of enemy agents that was plotting an assassination against Zelensky.
In September, law enforcement reported that an assassination plot was being prepared against Ukrainian journalist Dmytro Gordon.
