On Saturday, February 15, the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Defense Industry" and the French company Thales International SAS signed a memorandum to establish a joint venture.

This was reported by the Minister for Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin, via Telegram.

We are starting a new day of the Munich Security Conference with the signing of an important document. The State Enterprise “UkrOboronProm” and Thales International SAS have agreed to create a joint venture and formalized these agreements in writing,” the message states.

The enterprise will focus on developing advanced technological solutions to enhance air defense, radars, electronic warfare systems, tactical communications, and optoelectronic systems.

Smetanin noted that the Ukrainian defense industry has long collaborated with the French company and will now deepen this cooperation.

Recall that on February 6, Ukraine received the first Mirage 2000-5 fighters from France, which Emmanuel Macron announced the transfer of last summer.

On February 15, it became known that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the leaders discussed coordinating efforts to achieve a just peace.
