On the morning of January 18, powerful explosions rocked Kyiv. Russian forces attacked the capital with drones and ballistic missiles. Three fatalities have already been reported.
This information comes from the Kyiv City Military Administration (KGVA) and the city's mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko.
Air raid alerts were declared in Kyiv around 5 a.m. The Russians once again targeted the capital with drones. The Kyiv Regional State Administration reported that air defense forces were engaged with enemy targets.
At approximately 6 a.m., air raid alerts were issued again in Kyiv. Explosions could be heard just before and after the alarm sounded. The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicated a threat of ballistic missile use.
It is known that a ballistic missile struck a non-residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, igniting a fire. Emergency services are currently on-site. Preliminary reports indicate that three individuals have died.
Moreover, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported that windows had been shattered in the Shevchenkivskyi district, and there was smoke in the entrance of a residential building. Glass elements at the entrance to the "Lukyanivska" metro station have also been damaged. The station is currently closed for entry and exit.
Media reports have emerged about a lack of water in certain areas of Kyiv following the attack. The mayor stated that the water supply pipeline had been damaged.
Additionally, debris from downed targets was found in the Desnyanskyi district. Emergency services are working at the scene.
Recall that on the night of January 17, Russians attacked Ukraine with drones. As a result of drone debris falling, a boy born in 2012 was injured in the Kyiv region.
On January 16, Russian occupation forces attacked Kharkiv with a drone. Two men and a woman were injured in the strike.
