The U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has urged the future administration of Donald Trump to continue supporting Ukraine within the framework of the “Ramstein” format.
The politician's statement is quoted by Voice of America.
“This coalition has supported them (Ukraine – ed.) for almost three challenging years of war. And we must not stop now,” Austin stated.
The Pentagon chief believes that allies should continue to assist Ukraine, as the survival of the country and global security are at stake.
Austin also noted that since 2022, the U.S. has provided Ukraine with over two million artillery shells and more than 20,000 missiles.
“And all this while maintaining the readiness of our own forces,” the American politician concluded.
It is worth mentioning that recently, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak suggested that today’s meeting might be the last of this type of negotiations, and the Trump administration will propose a new form of cooperation regarding assistance to Ukraine.
Today, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also called on allies to continue the functioning of the Contact Group on Ukraine (the “Ramstein” format).
