At a press conference with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Orban congratulated him on his election victory. "I have studied the report presented by Hungarian observers. It was positive in every respect – it referred to free and democratic elections. Thus, I want to congratulate the Prime Minister of Georgia," he stated.
According to the Prime Minister of Hungary, the Georgian people "made a European choice."
"I also want to congratulate the government of Georgia for not allowing anyone to turn your country into another Ukraine while conducting a pro-European policy. We highly value the Prime Minister's commitment to this idea, and I personally believe that by the end of the decade, Georgia will be well-prepared to become a member state of the European Union," Orban declared.
It should be noted that on October 26, parliamentary elections took place in Georgia, where the pro-Russian party "Georgian Dream" received more than half of the votes. Meanwhile, international observers reported serious violations during the voting.
The election results were also not recognized by the country's president, Salome Zurabishvili. She called on people to participate in mass protests. A small demonstration took place on the evening of October 28 in Tbilisi.
