The High Anti-Corruption Court has detained People's Deputy Viktor Bondar for failing to pay the 100 million UAH bail set for him as a preventive measure in the case of embezzlement involving the State Enterprise "Ukrzaliznytsia."

This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, without naming the politician.

According to "Slovo i Delo," it is indeed Bondar who did not comply with the High Anti-Corruption Court's ruling regarding the application of a preventive measure in the form of a 100 million UAH bail.

“Given that the suspect did not pay the 100 million UAH bail set by the court, the prosecution filed a motion for a change of preventive measure from bail to detention with an alternative of posting bail. After hearing the arguments of both parties, the court partially granted the motion and applied a preventive measure of detention for 60 days with an alternative of posting a 100 million UAH bail. In accordance with the court's decision, the suspect has been taken into custody in the courtroom,” the SAP informs.

Recall that the NABU and SAP announced the suspicion of Deputy Bondar. According to the investigation, the suspect, Deputy Bondar, and entrepreneur Volodymyr Kotliar devised a scheme that involved supplying products to Ukrzaliznytsia at inflated prices. They entered into collusion with members of an organized group that acted as a sort of "back office" for the company, informally controlling its operations and ensuring the victory of "preferred" companies in Ukrzaliznytsia's tenders for a certain percentage of the procurement amount.

Between 2021 and 2022, Ukrzaliznytsia entered into contracts with companies controlled by the entrepreneur, which supplied products at prices higher than market rates. As a result of this scheme, Ukrzaliznytsia incurred losses exceeding 140 million UAH.
