In Ukraine, the number of registered marriages in 2024 decreased by 19% and the number of divorces increased by 42% compared to 2023.
This information comes from a report on the state registration of civil status acts by the Ministry of Justice, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

In the first year of the major war, Ukrainians married more frequently, but in 2023, the number of marriages decreased.Last year, there were 150.21 thousand marriages registered (a decrease of 19.3%, or 38.84 thousand fewer than in 2023).
At the same time, the number of registered divorces rose by 42.2%, or 10.18 thousand, reaching 34.29 thousand.
According to the Ministry of Justice, in the second half of 2024, the dynamics improved slightly: the number of registered marriages increased by 6.4% compared to the first half, totaling 77.44 thousand, while the number of registered divorces rose by 20.1% to 18.71 thousand.
On average in Ukraine, there was 1 divorce for every 4.4 marriages last year, with the highest ratio in Rivne and Transcarpathian regions at 8.1 and 7.2 times, respectively, while the lowest was in Ternopil, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, and Khmelnytskyi, where the ratio ranged from 3.3 to 3.6 times.
It is also reported that before the major war, in 2021, there were 214.01 thousand marriages and 29.59 thousand divorces registered in Ukraine, whereas in the year the war began, the number of marriages increased to 222.89 thousand, and the number of divorces decreased to 17.89 thousand.
It is worth noting that in 2023, the number of marriages in Ukraine decreased while divorces became more frequent. This trend continued into 2024.
