A new bank will be established based on Ukrposhta, providing various financial services to Ukrainians.
This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine on Tuesday, January 28.
Today, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the Cabinet of Ministers has transferred shares of Pinbank to Ukrposhta for the creation of a postal bank, which will provide access to financial services for over 30% of Ukrainians, particularly in frontline, liberated, and remote areas.
According to the ministry, Ukrposhta Bank will operate based on a special limited banking license.
It will offer the following financial services: social payments, bill payments, account openings, and more. Special attention will be given to socially vulnerable groups and small businesses in need of support.
It is expected that after the launch of Ukrposhta Bank:
- the government will save up to 2.6 billion UAH annually on expenses related to pension and social assistance payments;
- thanks to more than 25,000 new service points, financial services will become available even in the most remote corners of the country;
- the increase in cashless transactions will help reduce corruption levels and boost revenues to the state budget;
- for people with limited mobility and disabilities, the opportunity to receive banking services at home will be created;
- even in the event of power outages or communication disruptions, basic banking services will remain accessible in frontline and rural areas.
Recall that on January 23, the NBU raised the discount rate again against the backdrop of inflation. Previously, PrivatBank reported how Ukrainians are spending funds from the "National Cashback".
