Civilians who were held captive due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation can now apply for a deferment from mobilization.

This decision was made during a government meeting on February 28, as reported by the Ministry of Defense.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the relevant resolution "On Amendments to Appendix 5 of the Procedure for Conscripting Citizens for Military Service during Mobilization, in Special Periods." This document regulated the provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Mobilization Training and Mobilization" with amendments made on November 20, 2024,” the agency stated.

To obtain a deferment, these individuals only need to provide an extract from the Unified Register of Persons, which confirms the fact of deprivation of personal freedom due to aggression against Ukraine.
