Italy has seized a yacht valued at 5.5 million euros belonging to one of the leaders of a criminal organization, which, according to NABU and SAP, was established by Dmitry Sennichenko, the head of the State Property Fund.
This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
“Thanks to the coordinated actions of a joint investigative group, which includes representatives from Ukraine, Austria, and France, the search and seizure of assets belonging to members of the criminal organization led by the former chairman of the State Property Fund of Ukraine continues. In particular, as part of the work of this joint investigative group, Italian law enforcement officers have seized a luxury yacht from one of the leaders of the criminal organization in the State Property Fund of Ukraine, valued at 5.5 million euros,” SAP informs.
It is worth noting that NABU and SAP have formally charged former head of the State Property Fund Dmitry Sennichenko with the creation and leadership of a criminal organization. Along with him, eight other individuals have also been suspected. Later, the charges against him and other suspects were updated.
According to the investigation, former head of the State Property Fund Dmitry Sennichenko and others committed two episodes of criminal activity. The first involved corruption at the "Odesa Portside Plant" (99.56% of the shares are state-owned). According to the investigation, in early 2020, the chairman of the SPF managed to elect “loyal” members to the supervisory board of OPZ, who subsequently approved the appointment of a member of the criminal organization as the plant's director. During the period from May 2020 to October 2021, OPZ lost over 600 million UAH.
The second episode concerned OGHK. NABU and SAP established that in October 2020, the organizer managed to appoint a “loyal” acting director of OGHK. He, in turn, under the direction of “higher-ups,” deliberately concluded four contracts for the sale of titanium-containing raw materials (ilmenite concentrate) with a Czech company controlled by an advisor to the chairman of the SPF at below-market prices from 2020 to 2021. This product was then resold at market prices. The investigation found that the ilmenite concentrate was supplied to enterprises in Russia and to the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea. This resulted in damages to the state exceeding 111 million UAH.
