Andrey Hnatov, who was dismissed from his position as commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by President Volodymyr Zelensky yesterday, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of the General Staff.
This was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
In his new role, Hnatov will be responsible for force generation and cooperation with partners.
“Hnatov has over 27 years of experience in the military, having served in key positions – from commander of a marine brigade to commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the operational command troops 'East'. I am confident that his knowledge and skills will contribute to strengthening the defense capabilities of our state,” Umerov noted.
Recall that on February 7, the government appointed two new deputy ministers of defense.
On November 29, Zelensky appointed Mikhail Drapaty as the new commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In January, he took on another role – leading the operational-strategic grouping of troops 'Khortytsia'.
