It is noted that this delivery is part of Australia's aid package to Ukraine. The exact timeline for the provision of munitions has not yet been disclosed.

According to Australia's guided weapons plan released on October 30, 500-pound JDAM-ER munitions, produced in Australia, were phased out in 2021 along with the decommissioning of the F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet fighter fleet. Ukraine began using such bombs on MiG-29 aircraft back in March 2023, although at that time the munitions were supplied by the United States.

In April 2024, Australia confirmed that it also provided high-precision aerial munitions to Ukraine, and in July of the same year, it announced a new aid package valued at 250 million Australian dollars, which included unnamed aerial bombs.

It is added that the JDAM-ER kits were developed in the early 2000s by the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) in collaboration with Boeing and Ferra Engineering, which continues to manufacture them under a contract that is valid until 2028.

Recall that in October, it was reported that the Australian government would provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a new military aid package worth 245 million dollars. The new defense package includes 49 decommissioned Abrams M1A1 tanks.

Recently, the United States allocated a new military aid package for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which included weapons and equipment totaling 425 million dollars.
