This concerns assets totaling over 52 million UAH.
The case was opened following a complaint to the VAKS by the public anti-corruption organization "Brotherhood of Defenders." Initially, the representatives of this organization reported the offense to the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, but the case was not pursued there. Subsequently, the anti-corruption activists filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court, which fully agreed with the activists' arguments, ordering the SAP to open a criminal case.
"There is a real and justified likelihood that the assets mentioned in the statement, amounting to approximately 52 million 602 thousand 428 UAH, were acquired through illegal funds obtained during the Deputy Head of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office, PERSON_5's, tenure, and were registered in the names of close associates of the prosecutor merely for appearance's sake (masking). These circumstances may indicate that the prosecutor, as a declarant and a person authorized to perform state functions, committed criminal offenses for which criminal liability is provided under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code for 'Illegal Enrichment' and Article ..., " quotes UNIAN from the VAKS decision.
