It turns out that he is facing financial troubles in Russia. They may not be too significant, but in Ukraine, personal belongings of Medvedchuk are already being sold off, so - little by little, the situation is deteriorating.

The fact is that Viktor Medvedchuk is unsuccessfully trying to reclaim 69.8 million rubles in advances from the Russian "Chornomorneftegaz" for drilling a gas well at the "Deep" field off the coast of occupied Crimea.

This became known thanks to a publication by the Telegram channel "All Moves Recorded," which often shares compromising material on well-known politicians, officials, and businessmen.

In 2021, Medvedchuk's company "New Projects" paid about $1 million to "Chornomorneftegaz," which was supposed to drill the well using seized Ukrainian drilling rigs, commonly known as "Boyko Towers" (named after Yuriy Boyko, who purchased them in 2011 at inflated prices while serving as Minister of Energy).

Due to military actions in the Black Sea since 2022, "Chornomorneftegaz" did not proceed with drilling the well, and is now explaining in court that the drilling rig was destroyed "as a result of an enemy attack and is unsuitable for providing Services. Thus, its destruction is a critical obstacle to fulfilling the Contract."
