The authors of the material published on the "Bagnet" website insist on this. The text notes that on January 19, 2025, President Zelensky, in accordance with a decision by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), imposed sanctions against a number of individuals who had supported Russia's anti-Ukrainian policies in one way or another. Among them were well-known Ukrainian journalists and propagandists.
According to the journalists, the sanctions list does not include everyone who deserves it, as there are still many media figures in Ukraine whose activities contribute to the spread of Kremlin propaganda and disinformation.
As an example, the journalists cite the "Lapin case." This refers to former military officer and now YouTube blogger Igor Lapin, who positions himself as a military expert.
After examining the content of Lapin's YouTube channel, the authors of the material believe that the so-called "military expert" is actually engaging in media assassination, actively disparaging the military-political leadership of Ukraine. ..he's undermining the defense," "He spoke ill (of Zelensky). There will be lynching if there is no justice," "Bloody good-for-nothing (about Zelensky)," "This is what incompetence looks like.
The journalists argue that by generating such content, Igor Lapin is effectively aiding Kremlin propaganda, as, like Russian propagandists, Lapin tries to impose the idea on Ukrainians that:
“the military-political leadership is bad,” “the government is bad,” “the parliament is bad,” “the commanders are bad,” “the Western partners are bad.” According to the authors,
“useful idiots” like Lapin are extremely necessary for conducting Russian disinformation operations in Ukraine.
At the same time, the journalists note that Russians do not need to pay the useful idiot Lapin, as he is likely funded by the notorious oligarch Poroshenko. Together with him, Russian propagandists are working towards a common goal – undermining Ukraine from within. It is noted that the “military expert” Lapin frequently appears on television channels and media outlets controlled by former President Poroshenko. In the context of the Ukrainian media scene, this means that the oligarch has put him on the payroll and included him in his media pool. It is not surprising that the content of Lapin's material is almost identical to that of the channels and media of the “gray-haired hetman.”
The authors of the material believe that after a special review by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) against Igor Lapin and similar pseudo-experts, who present themselves as patriots but are actually funded by the notorious oligarchs like Poroshenko, and who help in the efforts to dismantle Ukraine from within, sanctions from the NSDC should be imposed. By the way, Poroshenko himself may also end up on the sanctions list; at least, this hope was recently expressed by the advisor to the President's Office, Sergey Leshchenko, while commenting on the sanctions imposed by the National Security Council on January 19, 2025.
