The public became aware of this thanks to information from Nimchenko's declaration, which, to his great regret, must be accessible to every citizen.
Vasily Nimchenko is a former judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, who has previously made several "high-profile" decisions. In particular, he is a co-author of the 2010 ruling that reinstated the 1996 Constitution. This effectively allowed Viktor Yanukovych to usurp power, significantly expanding his authority.

He has repeatedly criticized the language law and promoted the idea of granting the Russian language the status of a state language in Ukraine.
His activities as a member of parliament have also repeatedly provoked outrage. In 2021, Nimchenko supported the blocking of bills aimed at combating oligarchs and actively lobbied interests close to the Kremlin.
Nimchenko's record pension was made possible by special conditions provided for judges of the Constitutional Court. However, given the social injustice, such payments outrage the public, especially during wartime when most Ukrainians face economic hardships.
