In 2024, Kyiv allocated nearly 10 billion hryvnias to support military personnel, veterans, and their families. This is 2.5 billion more than in 2023. The funds are being distributed through the "Defender of Kyiv" program, with part of the money coming from last year's surplus and part from budget overperformance.

This was reported by Slidstvo.Info.

Of this amount, 14,000 drones (including Mavic and FPV), over 100 vehicles, and other equipment have been sent to the front. However, when journalists from "Slidstvo.Info" asked the Kyiv City Administration how the assistance is allocated and who benefits from it, they were not provided with details—only the figure of 5,185,208.24 thousand UAH that was transferred from the local budget to the state budget.

Later, the Kyiv City State Administration revealed additional information: in 2024, over 1.4 billion hryvnias were allocated for social support of military personnel and their families. In 2025, this amount has increased to 1.7 billion. However, the total still does not reach the 10 billion that was earmarked for military support.

It appears that Kyiv is increasing funding for the army and veterans, but officials are hesitant to disclose exactly where the money is going.
